Last week during our unseasonably warm winter, I decided to take off the outer cover and take a peek into Hive Number One. This is what I saw. This could be a sign (lots of bees at the top of the hive)that the bees have exhausted their honey stores, so I then took off the inner cover to see if this was a fact. The hive still had at least eight deep frames of honey, so I guess they were just spreading their wings a little bit, and enjoying not being in a cluster.
